USDA to bring 100 jobs to the region
St. Louis, MO. – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is planning to establish a new operations center in suburban St. Louis creating 100 full-time jobs.
The center will be in a former military records facility in Overland.
The National Archives Records Administration is moving into a new facility in Spanish Lake next year.
Congressman William Lacy Clay says the USDA's Operations Center will include 100 full-time and 300 part-time positions.
"It's great news for St. Louis County because this new center will not only create new jobs, it will also reutilize federal property in an energy efficient cost-effective way," Clay said.
The federal government is spending $35 million to convert the 1956 building into a green facility with LEED silver certification.
The USDA is expected to be in the building by the end of next year.
