Molina signs five-year extension with Cardinals

Yadier Molina, shown here, at left, with Jaime Garcia after a May 2011 win against the Milwaukee Brewers, has signed a 5-year, $75 million contract that keeps him in a Cardinals uniform until 2017

All-Star catcher Yadier Molina will be wearing the birds and the bat until 2017.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced on Thursday that Molina, a four-time Gold Glove winner, had signed a five-year, $75 million contract, with a mutual option for a sixth season.

The 29-year-old Molina has spent his entire career with the Cardinals. General manager John Mozeliak says the team considers him to be the best catcher in baseball.

Game six of the World Series postponed because of inclement weather

A tarp covers the Busch Stadium infield after it was announced that Game 6 of the 2011 World Series between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals has been postponed due to possibilities of heavy rain in St. Louis on Oct. 26, 2011.

A rainy weather forecast means another day off for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers.

Berkman signs with Cardinals for another year

Lance Berkman connects for a three-run homer during a June 23rd blow-out win against the Philadelphia Phillies at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals announced on Thursday that Berkman will return to the team next year.

"Puma" will be back for another season.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that Lance Berkman has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.  The team did not announce any more details, but other reports say the deal is for $12 million. Berkman made $8 million this season.
