River City casino won't reach revenue projection

River City casino

The St. Louis area's newest casino is falling short of revenue projections.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the River City casino in south St. Louis County is now projected to generate slightly less than $8.2 million in its 10 months of operation this year, and a little less than $10 million in 2011.

City to bars: when it comes to smoking ban, tents count

Bars in St. Louis that are thinking about applying for an exemption to the city's smoking ban will have to count any tents they use to expand seating areas toward the square footage total that allows them to get that exemption.

The city's ban includes language that lets bars smaller than 2,000 square feet and where "the serving of food is only incidental to the consumption" of alcoholic beverages to allow their patrons to smoke until January 1, 2016.

Cape Girardeau selected for final Mo. casino license

The Missouri Gaming Commission has selected Cape Girardeau as the new site for the state's 13th casino license.

Commissioner Jim Mathewson said that Cape Girardeau "made a good presentation" and "had lots of support from the community."

Mathewson also cited "oversaturation of the market" when asked why St. Louis was not awarded the license.
