St. Louis police chief Isom out of the running for Chicago job

St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom.

Last week, St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom confirmed that he was in the running to become the next superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.

But today, that seems to have changed.

The Chicago Police Board says two members of the city's police department and the police chief in Newark, N.J. are the three finalists to become Chicago's next police superintendent.

St. Louis police chief Isom in running for Chicago job

St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom.

St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom has confirmed that he is being considered for a job as superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.

Isom confirmed to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch today that his name has been recommended to incoming Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.

When asked whether he would take the job if offered, Isom said he would "listen to the conversation," but that he preferred to stay in St. Louis.

Anheuser-Busch to buy Chicago's Goose Island Beer Co.

Some of the beer taps at the Goose Island Brewpub on N. Clybourn Ave. in Chicago. It was announced today that St. Louis' Anheuser-Busch will acquire Goose Island, a Chicago craft beer brewer.

"Chicago's Craft Beer" is the tagline gracing the top of the website of Goose Island Beer Co., but, with an announcement today involving St. Louis fixture Anheuser-Busch, that tagline of origin may become a little muddled.

11 indicted over contraband cigarettes

Cigarettes are in the news again, but this time it's not about banning the smoking of them.

Eleven men from the St. Louis and Chicago areas are facing federal indictment for allegedly trafficking in contraband cigarettes.

The U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis announced the indictments on Thursday. Four of the men are from suburban St. Louis, five are from Chicago and two are from Chicago suburbs.
