Baby Blues Showcase: Featuring Young Blues Musicians For 12 Years

12th Annual Baby Blues Showcase

When Jeremy Segel-Moss, guitarist with the Bottoms Up Blues Gang, conceived the idea of the Baby Blues Showcase, he probably didn’t think about the fact that his group would one day age out of the annual event. But that’s exactly what happened. The original intent was to give blues musicians under the age of 30 a chance to shine for one night at BB’s Jazz, Blues and Soups. “Pretty much all the acts have come through one way or another,” said Segel-Moss, “Marquise Knox, Pokey LaFarge, the Rum Drum Ramblers, the people that are even still playing it because they started so young, and the Bottoms Up Blues Gang. We were all in our mid-20’s and have since aged ourselves out of the show.”

The 12th Annual Baby Blues Showcase takes place Sunday, December 1 and features The Thin Dimes, Aaron Griffin, Beulah Foehner, Mojo Roots, Animal Children and Matt Lesch.  In addition to 5 hours of music, the event will benefit Play it Forward, a program that collects and provides musical instruments for needy children and school music programs. More information is available on the event web page.
