Want To Be An Entrepreneur? Here’s A Boot Camp
New or aspiring entrepreneurs will be chosen for a 10-week boot camp at the Center for Emerging Technologies this fall.
The boot camp is called Square One and is aimed at entrepreneurs whose focus is bio science, technology or consumer products or services.
Square One program manager Mary Louise Helbig said the goal of the once-a-week class is to train entrepreneurs how to commercialize their business.
"It’s helping them get their idea or concept to reality and turning it into a business," she said.
The classes will focus on how to define a business model; develop pitch presentations; and implement sales, marking and organizational strategies. Helbig said participants also will get a stipend in the last half of the session to pay for co-working space.
"It’s giving them the education, resources and helping them make connections in the business community," Helbig said.
She said while the program is open to all, it’s an especially good opportunity for women and minorities. The St. Louis Bioscience Inclusion Initiative, part of BioSTL, is also promoting the class.
The deadline to apply for Square One is Friday. Helbig said those interested can apply at www.SQ1program.com.
