Cards and City Sign Agreement

By T. Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – The city of St. Louis is a little bit closer to insuring the Cardinals stay downtown.

A copyrighted story in the St. Louis Business-Journal reports the city and team quietly signed a pair of agreements on Monday. That was one day before Proposition S passed to require voter approval of any public financing of stadiums.

Alderman Irving Clay says while the current deal doesn't need voter approval any changes would.

The agreements do not mean the deal is set. The city and team still need to secure funds from St. Louis County the state of Missouri and the Cardinals still need to find a company to pay for a new park.
