St. Louis, MO – St. Louis University has announced that American Airlines CEO Donald Carty will NOT give the school's commencement address to graduating seniors next month as had been scheduled.
A university spokesman says President Lawrence Biondi spoke with Carty Wednesday and they decided that "in light of recent developments" the airline head would not participate.
Carty has come under fire recently from American's unions for his attempts to gain employee concessions, which would eliminate many St. Louis-based positions. Most are former TWA employees.
St. Louis University is now actively looking for a replacement commencement speaker.
