Interim Charter CEO Wants New Start

New CEO Robert May
New CEO Robert May

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – St. Louis-based Charter Communications has a new temporary boss.

Bob May was named interim C-E-O Tuesday after Carl Vogel resigned.

Vogel had led the company for more than three years.

May has been on Charter's board for a few months.

He told callers in a tele-conference this morning that it's a chance for a new start, and he wants to make customers feel they come first.

"While this sounds elementary, the fact is, at times, Charter hasn't always made our customers feel that they come first," May said.

The company has seen its share of troubles in recent years.

Three former executives have admitted in court that they fudged subscription numbers to make it look like there were more customers.
