Audit in Cahokia reveals unaccounted revenue

By AP / KWMU

Cahokia, IL – Mayor Frank Bergman says a special audit revealed missing traffic ticket payments, poor record keeping and an empty petty cash box.

Bergman says he ordered the audit without village board approval after discovering that from January to September, fines from citations like traffic tickets by 95 percent.

Village Clerk Norma Jones says she doesn't know anything about the missing funds or the special audit.

She says the revenue side of the clerk's office was handled by a former deputy clerk whom the village board fired last month.
