St. Louis – It was a nostalgic moment for many St. Louis Cardinals fans as the demolition of Busch Stadium moved into its final stages yesterday.

Cars lined the streets around the ballpark last night as the wrecking ball crashed into remaining portions of the building.

During the lunch hour Wednesday, a few people even slipped through a gap in the security fence to retrieve pieces of the stadium.

Demolition of the stadium began a month ago, with crews working around the clock. The process is about six weeks ahead of schedule.

The new stadium is due to be ready for the April 10 home opener against Milwaukee.
