St. Louis – Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was in St. Louis Tuesday to promote his conservative solution to rising healthcare costs.

Dubbed the "Missouri Project", the plan would place more responsibility on individuals to adopt healthier living practices and make their own medical choices. Julie Eckstein is the Director of the Missouri Project.

"One of the most important drivers there is it teaches people how to be better consumers of health, how to check and ask about pricing," Eckstein said.

The Missouri Project is an offshoot of a Gingrich consulting group called the "Center for Health Transformation."

Gingrich has said he is considering a presidential bid in 2008, but will not make a final decision until the fall.
