St. Louis, MO – Missouri State Representative Rick Johnson said yesterday he's not going to run for State Senate next year, after all.

Johnson lost a close special election for Senate this year and had said he'd try again for the seat now held by Republican Bill Alter.

But now Johnson says Democrats should instead unite behind former state Representative Ryan McKenna.

The Senate 22nd District covers the northern half of Jefferson County.

OTHER ELECTIONS

Also, Democrat Jake Zimmerman has said he's going to run for State Representative in St. Louis County. He had at first intended to run for Kurt Odenwald's seat on the County Council, but will instead vie for State Rep. Barbara Fraser's seat.

Fraser, a fellow Democrat, has said she also wanted to run for County Council.
