Thank You Gifts & Benefits

How Long Will It Take For My Thank You Gift To Arrive?

Please allow six to eight weeks for gifts to arrive. Contact the membership office if your gift does not arrive within the allotted time.

Will I Automatically Receive A Membership Benefit Item?

No. You will receive items only if you requested one when you pledged either on the phone or online.

How Do I Sign Up To Be A Sustaining Member?

Make a sustaining gift online from your bank account or credit card, or contact Membership.

How Can I Increase My Monthly Giving Amount?

Set up an Online Member Account or contact Membership.

As A Sustainer, Can I Still Request A Thank You Gift?

Absolutely! Sustainers can request one thank you gift annually, contact the Membership Office and request the gift of your choice.

How can I update my personal information?

We can update your address, email and credit card information. Set up an Online Member Account or contact Membership.

Is My Contribution tax-deductible?

Yes, your contributions to St. Louis Public Radio and the University of Missouri - St. Louis are tax deductible. You must deduct the “fair market value” of any thank you gifts you receive. Your thank-you letter, email confirmation or annual tax letter provides that information.

I lost my tax receipt. How do I get another one?

Set up an Online Member Account to view your giving history and print tax receipts whenever you'd like.

Does St. Louis Public Radio sell or exchange its members' names with other organizations?

St. Louis Public Radio does not sell or exchange its mailing list with any commercial concerns. We do, however, exchange our list with other non-profit organizations. If you would like your name to be excluded, please call, write or email us with your preference. View our member list policy.

Why did I receive my renewal notice before my expiration date?

Membership is St. Louis Public Radio's largest and most reliable source of revenue and provides one-third of our annual budget. Early renewal ensures your membership is always current and that your member benefits don't lapse. Many donors prefer to pay their membership as part of their monthly bills, so the early notice can easily be incorporated into their household's budget planning.

When you submit payment, your membership benefits will be extended one year from the end of your current anniversary date. Any payment received more than four months before your current anniversary date is considered an “additional gift” and not an annual renewal. If you want this early gift to be considered as your annual renewal, please contact the membership office to let us know.

I am getting duplicate mailings, or too many mailings, what do I do?

Call us, or mail us the complete address block from both mailings so we can correct our files. We can also adjust our records to limit the number or mailings you receive, so please let us know your preferences.

Where can I find more information about car donations?

St. Louis Public Radio partners with Charitable Auto Resources and handles the Vehicle Donation Program to accept vehicle donations. To find out more about our vehicle donation program call 855-KWMU-CAR (855-596-8227).

What are my rights as a donor?

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:

I. To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

II. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

III. To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.

IV. To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

V. To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.

VI. To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.

VII. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.

VIII. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.

IX. To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.

X. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
