Lindenwood Consolidating, Moving Daytime Programs From Belleville To St. Charles

After the president of Lindenwood University's Belleville campus was dismissed, several Belleville officials started worrying that the campus was in trouble.

Lindenwood University announced Monday morning that it would be consolidating daytime undergraduate academic programs from its Belleville campus to St. Charles, Missouri, following the 2019-2020 academic year.

All Lindenwood-Belleville students will be able to complete their degrees at the St. Charles campus with all scholarship packages fully intact, including athletic scholarships. More than 350 faculty and staff members in Belleville either will be moved to St. Charles or offered a severance package.

Less than a month after the president of Lindenwood University-Belleville left the college after being placed on administrative leave, the university’s board of trustees on Friday voted to fire the president of the university based in St. Charles, Mo.

Michael Shonrock, who had been president of the Lindenwood University System since 2015, was fired by the board but had not yet been given a reason for the termination, according to his attorney, Jerry Dobson.

Two weeks after the president of Lindenwood University-Belleville officially left his post after going on administrative leave, the president of St. Charles, Mo.-based Lindenwood University System has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Michael Shonrock told the university’s student publication Lindenlink that he was placed on leave Tuesday and not given a reason for the decision in a letter from Dr. J. Michael Conoyer, the chairman of the Lindenwood University Board of Trustees.
